In 1994, The Louisiana Story was selected for preservation inside United States National Film Registry with the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." It is the story of the Cajun boy with his fantastic family, living on the bayous in such a way of life that we can barely imagine.
The boy's family rents land on the oil company, which comes in, drills, and leaves everything much like it was, clean and unspoiled other than the family features a little more money. (Yes, it had been funded from the Standard Oil Company.)
The boy spends most of his time on his narrow boat (pirogue), floating over the bayous, prime snake and alligator habitat, regarding his pet raccoon. He never wears an existence preserver or shoes... doesn't even have a cell phone to speak to case he gets having problems. There is not much story, just a celebration (in these stunning black and white photography that you might well wonder what are the big deal is around color) of an way of life which is no longer around.
All in the actors were amateurs, and for most, this was their only film. As of April 2007, J.C. Boudreaux, who totally boy, was living in a FEMA trailer regarding his wife of fifty-five years, after Hurricane Rita destroyed their home. (source). First, I am thankful that The Passion of Joan of Arc was ever made. Second, I am thankful that The Passion of Joan of Arc was preserved. The director Carl Theodor Dreyer (more) died convinced that the last copy ended up destroyed. In a amount of weirdness that sounds more like a movie compared to truth, a nearly complete print was discovered in 1981 inside a janitor's closet of your Norwegian mental institution.
